I laugh when he pulls the Bugatti up to the football field in downtown Denver. I look over at him. “Let me guess, a Broncos game?” I knew enough about sports to know it wasn’t baseball season anymore. It’s September now. Baseball’s a summer sport, right?

He chuckles. “Opening game, baby.”

While I’m not a big football fan—or watch any sports, really—I like it over baseball. Gah, that’s so damn boring.

He parks and we walk into the stadium, and he leads me up a back stairwell to some seats at the top of the stadium. The seats are behind glass and there are a few distinguished-looking people in here.

“Have a seat,” Nate says, ushering me into a super comfortable seat before he takes the one next to me.

He grabs my hand as a lady walks up wearing what I could only describe as a baseball waitress uniform. “Would you like something to drink?”

I look at Nate. He grins at me. “They don’t have Silver Ale here—yet. I’m working on it. You’re stuck with domestic, for now.”

I make a face (now who’s the snob?) and ask for a glass of wine instead. Nate orders a Coors.

Nate pulls our linked hands up to his lips and kisses my knuckles. “Do you like football?”

I nod and lie, “Sure.”

He stares at me with amusement in his eyes. “Who’s your favorite team?”

I look out at the massive field where the players are warming up. “The Broncos, duh.”

“That’s great, we like the same team. Wasn’t that so awesome when they won the Super Bowl last year?”

They did? Seems like I would have remembered that. Well, it’s not like I have neighbors who would have kept me up on Superbowl night partying. So how would I know? I don’t even have cable. I smile sweetly and say, “Yeah, awesome.”

He snorts and a hear someone behind me giggling. I cock an eyebrow at him.

“You failed the fan test. They did not win the Superbowl last year. Sadly, it’s been a few years since they even went to one.”

Yikes. My cheeks heat and I chew on my lip. “Sorry,” I say sheepishly.

He kisses my nose and squeezes my hand. “It’s okay. We’ll make a fan out of you yet. Do you at least understand the game?”

Deciding I’ve been caught, I continue to bite my lip and then shake my head. “Sorry.”

“Nice. I’ll explain it as it goes, then!”

He was way too excited for me to have the heart to tell him not to bother, so I smile back and tell him I’m excited.

The lady brings us our drinks, and Nate orders hot dogs and pretzels.

I hate to admit that by the end of the night, I couldn’t remember having more fun. He held my hand most of the time, and if he wasn’t, he was stroking my leg or touching me in some way. Admittedly, I couldn’t keep my hands off of him either. He was so gorgeous and attentive, and the way he seemed to always want to be near me made me want to be near him, too.
